Door Closers & Floor Springs

A surface mounted overhead door closer made by Briton.|There are many types of door closing mechanisms to suit many different applications. A good quality product will give good service for many years.|This door closer is set in to the top of the door to make it partly concealed for a neater appearance.|Floor door closers have been around for a long time. This one was fitted about 1950. The brass plate in the floor conceals a floor type door closer making them neater and less visible . It is possible to adjust the speed of closing with these mechanisms.|Floor door closer being used on a glass door.|Cupboard hinge with adjustable soft close mechansim.

Easing doors & windows

Doors and windows often require adjusting to ensure they fit their frame perfectly. This keeps out sound and draughts.|Doors with overhead door closers sometimes close too fast or too slow. This can be altered by changing the adjustments built into the mechanism.|Cupboard door hinges have adjustment screws on them so that the door can be moved to line up with the frame perfectly. If they have excessive wear, they are easy to replace.|Recently fitted external doors sometimes need to be adjusted or planed down as they aclimatize to the environment.|This brass plate in the floor conceals a floor type door closer. It is possible to adjust the speed of closing with these mechanisms.|Internal doors can be planed down and adjusted if they become stiff to open.

Window & Door Cills

Good maintenance of door and window cills will extend their life before replacement. It is important not to let the paintwork flake or peel from the surface before repainting.|Here we have an example of a granite interior cill|Wood rot has been left to run its course in the example, meaning an expensive repair job is necessary or even complete renewal.|Interior sill with decorative apron|The surface paint has been removed from the window frame with a blow torch then the rotten wood has been removed making it ready for treating and filling.|Repair to existing cill|New Cill fitted to an existing box frame window + secret pocket repair|This is an example of a window and cill that has been left too long without repainting - wood rot has started on the left hand side. It is repairable but regular maintenance is a better option. Paint started to peel, no wood rot present, if caught early can be undercoated & painted.|
